Hannah Lavan, LCSW
Psychotherapist | NYC / Westchester
Hannah Lavan (LCSW) is a Psychotherapist and Parent Coach who has been working with children and families for more than 20 years. While pivoting from Performer to Therapist, Hannah worked as a research assistant tracking the link between early childhood experiences and adult mental health, co-authoring a paper on adolescent risk-taking. After gaining an MSW from Fordham University, she then spent around a decade working as a Nursery School teacher. Hannah’s knowledge of child development informs her work with clients of all ages.
Hannah credits this time with deepening her understanding of a child’s experience of their world. Three years of Post Graduate training at the Ackerman Institute for the Family fueled her desire to work with patients throughout the lifespan and gave her the skills to work with couples and families. Most recently, Hannah has incorporated Mentalization-Based Treatment into her work with adolescents and young adults. She enjoys working with neurodivergent, twice exceptional, and complex presentations.
An essential member of our evaluation team, Hannah offers classroom observations of young children and consultation for educators. Hannah also serves as our Community Liaison.
