Neurodivergent Therapy for
Children in NYC & Westchester

Affirming Support For Neurodivergent Individuals & Their Families, Fostering Acceptance & Personal Growth

Your child doesn't need to be "fixed." They need to be understood.

Maybe you just got an ADHD diagnosis, and you're not sure what it means for your child's future. Maybe your child's school keeps calling about behavior, but you know there's more going on beneath the surface. Maybe you suspect your child might be on the autism spectrum, but every provider has a six-month waitlist.

At Everyday Parenting Psychology, we take a neurodiversity-affirming approach. That means we don't see your child's differences as deficits; we see them as part of who your child is. Our job is to help your child build the skills they need to thrive in a world that wasn't designed for the way their brain works.

"Our whole team is twice exceptional... everybody has ADHD, and then they're all super gifted clinicians."

We say this not to be cute, but because it genuinely shapes our approach. Our clinicians understand neurodivergence from the inside out.

Your child's brain isn't the problem. The fit is.

What We Help With

ADHD

ADHD isn't just about attention; it affects emotional regulation, executive function, social relationships, and self-esteem. We help children (and their parents) understand their ADHD brain and develop strategies that play to their strengths. See our dedicated ADHD therapy for kids and ADHD coaching pages.

Autism Spectrum

Whether your child has a recent diagnosis, you're exploring the possibility, or you're seeking support after a previous assessment missed the mark we provide therapy that honors your child's autistic identity while building skills for daily life. We take the time to see the full picture, including high-masking presentations that other providers often miss.

Executive Function

Organization, planning, time management, emotional control, flexible thinking, these "invisible" skills are often where neurodivergent children struggle most. We build executive function skills through practical, developmentally appropriate strategies.

Sensory Processing

When certain sounds, textures, lights, or environments feel overwhelming, or when a child seems to crave intense sensory input, DIR/Floortime and sensory-informed therapy can help your child regulate and participate more comfortably in daily life.

Twice-Exceptional (2e) Children

Gifted and neurodivergent? These children often fall through the cracks, too smart for support services, too struggling for gifted programs. We specialize in understanding the complex profiles of 2e kids.

Our Approach

We use evidence-based approaches adapted for neurodivergent children:

DIR/Floortime

Meeting your child at their developmental level through play and relationship Learn more

Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS)

Solving problems with your child, not imposing solutions on them

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Social Skills Support

Not teaching kids to mask, but helping them navigate social situations authentically

Parent Coaching

Because parenting a neurodivergent child requires a different playbook (neurodivergent parenting coaching)

For Parents

Getting a neurodivergent diagnosis for your child can bring relief and grief at the same time. We support parents through:

  • Understanding what the diagnosis means (and what it doesn't)

  • Advocating for accommodations at school

  • Adjusting parenting strategies for your child's specific brain

  • Managing your own emotions about the diagnosis

  • Connecting with resources and community

Our parent coaching for neurodivergent families is one of our most requested services.

Assessment & Diagnosis

Not sure what's going on? Our developmental and diagnostic assessments can help clarify whether your child has ADHD, autism, a learning difference, or a complex profile that needs careful understanding. We believe in assessments that lead to action, not just a label, but a roadmap for support.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Start with a consultation. We'll review the diagnosis, understand your child's specific challenges, and recommend whether individual therapy, parent coaching, or both would be most helpful.

  • This is very common, especially in girls and high-masking children. School takes enormous effort, and home is where they feel safe enough to release. A developmental assessment can help clarify what's going on.

  • Yes. With your permission, we coordinate with teachers and school staff to ensure your child's therapeutic goals align with their educational environment.

  • We work with children from toddlers through adolescence. Early intervention is valuable but it's never too late to start. For tweens and teens, see our tween and pre-teen services.

Your child isn't giving you a hard time. They're having a hard time.
