Frequently Asked Questions
Everyday Parenting provides compassionate mental health care for families and individuals at every stage of life, specializing in maternal mental health, child development, family therapy, and individual care.
-
Consider seeking support if you frequently feel disconnected from your child, find yourself caught in repetitive conflict patterns, notice your child is struggling emotionally, or if your family is going through a significant transition. Many families also benefit from preventative relationship-building work, even when there aren't obvious problems.
-
The timeline varies depending on your specific goals and challenges. Some families notice meaningful improvements after just a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. We'll work together to establish clear goals and regularly assess progress toward them.
-
This depends on your child's age and the specific challenges you're facing. For parents of infants and very young children, sessions often focus primarily on the parent. With older children, we may alternate between parent-only sessions and joint parent-child sessions where we can observe and guide interactions directly.
-
While individual child therapy focuses primarily on your child's internal experience, parent-child relationship work centers on the interactions and patterns between you. Rather than viewing challenges as residing solely within the child, we consider how the relationship dynamic itself can be shifted to benefit everyone involved.
-
Absolutely. While it can be helpful to have all parents involved, significant positive changes can occur when even one parent engages in this work. As your relationship with your child transforms, it often has ripple effects throughout the family system.
