Jeanette Sawyer Cohen, PhD
Dr. Sawyer Cohen (Ph.D., M.Phil., M.S., IMH-E®) is a Columbia University trained psychologist with extensive experience helping parents and children. She specializes in women's mental health including trauma, anxiety, depression and stress in the perinatal period and beyond. She also works with children who struggle with self-regulation and are often described as anxious, sensitive, reactive, and intense. She partners with parents to assess and understand their child's unique developmental profile and to develop a plan to address both the underlying issues and the challenging behavior. Dr. Sawyer Cohen is experienced with “2e” profiles and has worked with children with autism spectrum disorder for 20 years. Outside of private practice she holds faculty positions at NY Medical College and Weill Cornell Medical College. Recognized for her expertise in the areas of child development, play, mindfulness and emotional intelligence, and parent-child interactions, she is involved in research, consulting, advocacy and child policy work.
